Tim Downing

I have coached triathlon since 2007 with a few triathlon clubs (3Dtri, TCDtri, Cambridge TC, Galway TC), and swimming in various roles since 1997. I am interested in improving training approaches specific to the demands of triathlon races and figuring out the easiest way to get faster.

I originally gained qualifications in lifeguarding, swimming and lifesaving through Swim Ireland and the Royal Lifesaving Society. Then in 2007 I founded TCDtri (Trinity College triathlon club) and led triathlon coaching in that club, including personal coaching. This was and is still supported by doing a variety of CPD courses by the BTF, DCU sports dept, Swimsmooth and Triathlon Ireland.

Random achievements:
- I won a sprint tri 7 weeks after breaking my arm (Lough Key 2007).
- I was 3rd in the 2011 British Quadrathon Championships.
- Top 30 in Alpe d'Huez olympic tri, long distance tri, and duathlon.
